Kalmthout Aboretum

Kalmthout is home to a range rare and old specimen trees and is centred on flowering cherries, Rhododendrons, Rosaceae, Acers and a selection of conifers. There is also a small garden centre and cafe. It is located on N117 about 8km from the E19 motorway exit 4 (Antwerp-Breda). It is a rather small turning down a narrow tree lined drive which leads to the carpark. I heard about this place when Gardeners World visited it to see the Japanese flowering cherry trees in bloom. We arrived a bit too late for the best of the cherry blossom, and slightly too early for the best of the rhododendrons and azaleas but there was still plenty to see.
