Belgium is has mostly mild wet weather in winter with lots of rain, but for a week or two it can be very cold if continental weather gets a grip. There was a snowy period this year, and the lion standing guard outside the Tervuren Army HQ looks distinctly unimpressed with his lot.
It also posed a problem for the fountain and waterfall in our small pond. Each night more and more ice built up to form intricate ice daggers on the reeds which were being splashed. Eventually the fountain found itself inside a solid sheath of ice. I decided it was probably better to leave the pump running than risk having ice form in the pipes. The birds were not happy with deep snow either.
The Africa Museum also looks a little out of place covered in snow.
